Keynote from the Headmistress

The Team SMV has demonstrated the Tech Road – a Technology centric Roads implemented by Tumakuru Smart City. The Model speaks about the basic components and footpaths. Streetlight is a way ahead to make city an energy efficient and tech monitored. Students has tried demonstrating the live monitoring, traffic lights and emergency services in the Ring Road.

Introduction :

• Tumkur , officially renamed as Tumakuru , is a city located in the southern part of Indian state of Karnataka. 
• Tumkur is known as “Kalpataru Nadu”( land of coconuts) . 
• Dollu kunita is one of Tumkur’s folk dance.

 Background of the project :

• In Ring road there are complete surveillance in every signal which helps for security.
• There is SOS buttons in junctions which helps in case of emergency etc.
•  LDR sensor inserted in street light automatically turns the light on when it becomes dark.
• High mass light gives 360 degree light from height 400 to 1500 feet.
• Sign boards give information about safety signs.
• A frontage road running parallel to high speed limited access roads is called service road.

Tumakuru Ring Road

The most common purpose of a ring road is to assist in reducing traffic volumes in the urban centre. Such as by offering an alternate route around the city for drivers who do not need to stop in a city core. Ring roads can also serve to connect suburbs to each other, allowing efficient travel between them .

Under smart city project, TUMKUR ring road has been developed up to 10.5 km . It is the longest road developed in Tumkur under smart city.

Density based traffic signal system 

1. This system uses infrared sensors as counters to measure the traffic density in each lane .
2. Infrared sensors are also for speed detector with Bluetooth module and Bluetooth serial monitor.

SOS Panic Button

Panic button is a wearable or portable device , like a key fob , that’s designed to summon help in an emergency situation . Panic buttons allow a person to instantly call for help simply by pushing
 a button.

Street lights 

Street lights improves safety by allowing pedestrians and motorists to see each other. It also adds to personal safety and aesthetics.

LDR sensors is used for detecting the presence of light so that during the day tie when sun is bright , the street light is switched off automatically . During night time when there is o light the LDR sends signal to microcontroller to turn on the street light .

High Mass Lights

High mass lighting is a type of site light fixture that is commonly used to illuminate large areas from very high mounting height for storage, transportation and pedestrian use and safety .

Traffic Lights 

Traffic sign boards provide information about safety signs , the road conditions ahead , provide instructions to follow at major crossroads or junctions , warn or guide drivers and ensures that road traffic runs smooth.
